What is this strange egg?

My BR laid this today, and I've never seen an egg like this. Last week there was a shell-less egg in the coop with a "tail." I increased the oyster shells offerings around and haven't had shell-less eggs since, but this is really weird. It's quite small compared to her normal eggs, it has a gritty texture, and the end seems like she tried to finish it, but thought twice, and then finished it. Everyone is molting and egg production is way down. Sigh... Has anyone seen this before?

The egg was yoke-less with a gelatinous white, and the shell was thinner than normal.

If you read through this link you can see some things that can happen to eggs inside and out that are just as weird if not more so.

My guess on that one (and this is pure speculation) a bit of something made it's way down the internal egg making factory and that factory mistook it for a yolk so it made an egg around it. She'd probably already laid that day so she may not have had enough material for a full second egg. The timing may have been off so it was ready to lay at night so she sucked it back in and left it in the shell gland longer than normal. I may be totally wrong, something weird may have happened, but to me this is a logical explanation. Nothing to worry about.
