What is this treasure?

A friend of mine found this beauty among their (late) grandmother's belonging. She was clearly a beloved bird-- what was she? Hard to tell from the picture, but she is bantam sized.

Is it a dead chicken that was stuffed or is it just a craft chicken? It doesn't particularly resemble any bantam breed I know of, so maybe some kind of mix.

I know someone with a taxidermy chicken in their kitchen, I guess it was a decorative items at some point. Looks mixed to me but feathers don't hold up well to taxidermy.

In size and shape it doesn't look too far off from an old English game bantam but I've never seen a chicken with quite that coloring. It is unusual. I think it must be a mix of some kind.
