What is this blob? It was attached to the duckling's navel by a thread thick "cord". The picture is basically true to color. It is definitely brownish.

Just egg goo. A little poo and a bit of membrane and I don't want to know what else....

Completely normal.

Okay, good to hear. My chicken chicks and peachick never have this much left in the egg after they hatch, but it has been probably 20 years since I have hatched any ducks. I could definitely see poo with it, but I also didn't think yolk would be attached in that way. Thanks.
