Does anybody know why this would happen? Does it mean a problem or illness?

He's recovering from an injury right now, received during a fight with multiple of his brothers. He's solo in a cushy bunny pad while he recovers and I feel it's safe to reintroduce him with his sisters after they're all altered.

I don't have rabbits but the wild ones don't have poop strung together like beads.. Our bunny person is user name "Bunny Lady," maybe you could use the search box to find her. She is very knowledgeable. I would wonder if your rabbit swallowed something that is being expelled with the poop. Doesn't look like worms.

Poop strings like that are pretty common in long-haired breeds, though they aren't usually quite that long. I'm with Hholly; I think your rabbit swallowed a long hair or thread. We usually say something about making sure there is plenty of fiber in the rabbit's diet, but I know you are already doing that.
