It's grossing me out. I searched the forum and found several threads that sounded similar, but didn't find a picture.

What part is grossing you out? I have seen things on this forum that would make me never eat an egg again if I found that stuff. Is it that extra chunk of white? It looks vaguely like the same stuff the chalaza is made of.

Funky eggs happen.
Is it from a new layer?
Could just be a glitch, even with an older bird.

Dissecting the 'thing' further could give clues as to what it is.
Clearer pics during dissection can help too.
Is it hard, soft, stringy, etc????

I was afraid you'd ask for dissection lol I'll have my husband do it when he gets home. It looks hard. I think I found some of the super gross stuff on this forum while searching. .we don't have any new layers, but some recently started back up again and we do have 1 super old bird.

Well, you don't have to dissect and take clearer pics, even if we can tell you what likely happened,
chances are there's nothing you can do about it.
Either it will happen again or it won't.

Funky eggs definitely will have you opening eggs one at time in a separate dish before adding to pan or recipe for quite awhile if not foreever.

Have you seen this weird egg thread?

He says it looks like an egg tried to develop inside the egg. It was like a soft shell with white inside of it.
