What is this?

28 Quail in and I see this foot. As you can see I have him on his own cause I don't know what it is, if he's ok to go with the rest, or will they attack him because of this deformity? Can someone tell me what it is and is he ok to go with the other chicks?

Looks like maybe he has spraddle leg or perhaps paralysis in his foot/toes/leg?

I’m not sure how the other chicks would treat him. For now make sure he is warm, drinking and eating before worrying about introducing him to the rest. He’ll need individual special care before going with the rest. See if he’s getting better and if so, try slowly introducing him...

We still have him separated because we tried for a moment. We watched him like a hawk and right away 2 chicks came after him. 1 with a quick peck to the head that we assume is normal for pecking order, and the other grabbed his tail and wasn't letting go. I don't think we are too willing to try it again for a couple of days. We put his foot flat on a bandaid and put another over top since his toes are curled also. Just not sure what to do about it being out from under him

I just had a chick, albeit a chicken chick, with an injury that stuck her leg out like that and I had to make a hobble out of a thin hair elastic. As he is so small you may need to do some creative adjustments but the point is that the elastic sits about mid shin on both legs and is tight enough between the legs to pull the extended leg back under him. Is his knee joint working as it should?

Yes his knee is pulling back when I make him mad. He seems to be in no pain when I push his leg back so I knew it wasn't a break of any sort at least

Ok, good. So try to put together a hobble for him. Vet wrap works well for this as does the aforementioned hair elastic. You just need to pull the legs together. I am sure you know this already but chicks are incredibly bendy so that leg should heal really quickly. Good luck!
