I purchased hatching eggs labeled Rhode Island Red - but I have no idea what we hatched. They were cheap eggs and a great science project for my daughter and I and we LOVE our eggs. I wasn’t anticipating any eggs for about another month or two, but they will be 17 weeks old tmw and I’ve been finding shellless eggs around and I’m about 95% sure they are not from my mature hens considering they all typically produce a shelled egg/day now. I read that some sex links begin to mature 18-20 weeks, so was wondering if my shellless egg “gifts” (also in random places - NOT the nesting boxes, which we have 5 of but all 4 laying hens will get pissed and pace loudly till one another have a turn at the same single box ‍♀️ But that’s a diff problem) were the onset of maturity - 17 weeks seems early considering I just had a hen wait almost an entire year.
