What is this?

My little Buff Orps began laying in June. Todays egg revealed this. Can anyone explain to me what this is?

Looks similar to chalaza tissue. My guess is it's just an extra glob of it. A picture of the whole egg would help.

That’s the tissue that attaches/balances the yolk as albumen is formed and then the egg shell. You just got yourself a big Gooey blob of it. Kinda gross looking, but harmless.
