What is this?

Did you vacuum pack them?

I vacuum pack fish and they last a year or more..

No, they were just in freezer paper... I was fishing in the backwoods of the VWN and it was a pretty rustic ( falling down ) fish camp so things like vacuum sealers and boats that didn’t leak were not available... but the fish didn’t get freezer burnt... just more fishy tasting

I brought fish back from Alaska once in vacuum sealed packages and it kept well... the boat in a Alaska didn’t leak either... maybe if you catch fish in a leaky boat the fish taste fishier the longer they are frozen

I vacuum pack mine when I get them home. I always freeze them first and then pack them. It keeps the seal from getting wet and failing.

Maybe I should send you a guide to file away on fish packing :lau

Yes. This is a soap cutter. The soap is made in molds that are long rectangular. Called Loaf Molds. Once the saponification process is done (about 2 days) you can take it out and cut it into bars. This apparatus helps keep you square and neat with your cuts. I used to use a big knife and a ruler. I still made a few ugly bars. This just keeps it more professional looking.
I make cold process soap. Some natural stuff with essential oils. But mostly just what I like for smells and colors. And I find most people are that way anyways. They want good smells. How natural it is is not as high on the list as one might expect. I use Coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil (for good bubbles) and some sort of butter. I'm a fan of mango butter and cocoa butter. And then some lye solution made with the stuff from the hardware store. It's a wonderful chemical process. Sort of amazes me that that's what makes soap. Honestly.
And I knew you made soap too. .:he
Southie brain fart

I always put water in the bag when I freeze fish. Especially cat fish. I ain't got no fancy equipment for vacuum sealing. .
The water keeps it from freezer burn and I think the soaking as it thaws out takes out some of that "fishyness"

Why would anyone take the fishiness out of fish?

that’s like taking the chocolaty out of a Hershey bar.

Pssst. @OhZark Biddies can I tell them to read my chain of posts to find the answer to your thingy.? I am sure some of them saw it and read right past it.

Lol, I had a little reply to your earlier hint on this item logged in my head but you just covered it in one fell swoop...

I didn’t think this would stump everyone, maybe something will strike a cord with someone before I axe this one and post the impossible one ;)

Maybe it’s because the rest are all dull witted and not as sharp as us.
