like for embroidery or quilting. My sewing machine kung fu is weak.

I don't know about a foot for embroidery, but for me, the foot is the part on the machine that holds the fabric down so that it doesn't go wonky.

Yup. There are some specialty ones for machine embroidery that are loop/oval/hoop shaped. So I was guessing based on the shape. (I was wrong)
