What is this?

Its almost certainly a gate eye bolt... or at least that’s what I would look for if I were trying to replace it... but i don’t have a clue on the shape as to why... so maybe not....

If you zoom in on the eye end there is a manufactured shoulder built into it... so ???

Well. . he thinks that part was manufactured.. Just that it used to be straight

Yeah I’m with ya on the possibility that someone bent it ‘cause of the odd angles...

...I was just pointing out the shoulder because I noticed it later... and it kinda made me scratch my noggin even more...

....thought maybe someone would recognize it from that feature...

I think the eye let was to place over a “hook” and the bolt went through a hole and it held a 2x4 or something similar. I think to be a beam on a wagon or other piece of horse drawn equipment..


Or it is a bent bolt, formerly straight.. that was ran through a roto-tiller.

The wood base was to skid it in place to move it around...

As for use.... I think the cable for this one was run out and hooked to a thing... and then the spool was turned by the pole/log to reel it in...
