What is this?

Oyster Stew? MIL makes every Christmas. That's just milk butter and oysters? Almost sounds like it. I suppose you could substitute about any fishy in for the oysters...?

It was a traditional Finnish name ... but I don’t think it was much more than milk, butter and fish... I think it was just whitefish...she might know the name of it I’ll have to remember to ask

That does sound interesting...

I should get my wife a soap making kit... I think she’d like doing it... she often comes home with homemade soaps from local craft fairs, barn sales, etc.
I piece mealed my stuff together. Stick blender from the "Tossed and Found" Bowls for mixing. (can't have anything aluminum) and should watch a video on lye safety as well. I order a few colorants(micas) and essential oils/frangrances now and then from Wholesale Supplies.

So that's probably what I've got for "What is this?" contraptions in my house. Having to do with my hobbies.... I'll keep my eyes peeled for more odd ball things.

I've never tried Lutefisk. Speaking of Lye.
MIL bought some Olsen Fish Company Pickled herring. So good. Gave me some inspiration and I made pickled Northern on Sunday. We tried it last night. It's good.... Maybe needs another day. We had froze the Northerns until we got to them. The meat seemed a little tough. IDK... I told DH that we need to maybe just pickle right away after filleting.

Pickled herring sounds good right now :drool

I don’t know about toughness... and I’ve only had northerns I caught in early June in Canada...

I think they’re good mild tasting when fresh, but for some reason both lake trout and northerns that I brought back seem to get strong and fishy when they’ve been in the freezer too long , past 6 months or so :idunno

Here’s a thing to guess, should be an easy one... I’ve got near impossible one for later too, lol
