OK this morning I went out to feed my girls and one of my five-year-old Barred Rock had what I thought was a prolapsed vent I just gave her a 20 minute epsom bath and it turns out it’s an shell but what is that red part in photo, will she be ok I tried to put some p.h ointment because there was some swelling tissue but that’s hard to do one handed hubby was sick in bed (not Covid, allergies) please tell what u think thanks

Hopefully, that is just an abnormal egg from a hemorrhage in the oviduct, but I have not seen that before. Here is something similar, and I will look for others:

My girl is better today i dont see any swelling tissue and she is her old self...

I found her dead this morning. She was good yesterday.

I'm thinking it was Ovarian Cancer. Certain tumors when damaged will cause excessive bleeding, & death.

I was thinking that possibly the egg broke inside and toxins killed her. I'm sad today. But she looked normal yesterday. I didn't see anything out of normal on her and she hasn't gained or lost any weight. Thanks for responding she was 5 years old. Her name was Peppa
