This has started to really sworry me

It looks like another shell-less egg. What are you feeding? Do you have crushed oyster shell for extra calcium? Have you given any human calcium tablet or Tums? I would give some for the next 3-5 days to see if egg shells improve, and also to help muscle contractions to pass eggs. Make sure that she is drinking well and eating. Has she been eating or feeling lethargic? Is her tail position up or down? Do you see any other egg shell problems from other hens? Stress, exposure to infectious bronchitis virus in the past, salpingitis, and other conditions can cause shell-less eggs.

We give oyster shells we give her purina layer crumbles. We have given her tablets for a few days a few times in the past month. Sometimes is lethargic she will spend all day in the nesting box then becomes lethargi. At night she drops the egg. No egg problems in other hens.

If you have tried the calcium, she may have a problem in her oviduct with her shell gland or salpingitis. Is her tail held down? An antibiotic such as amoxicillin (Aqua Mox sold online) could be tried to treat infection. Dosage is 125-250 mg daily for 10 days. A hen of mine was injured and roughed up by a neighbor dog, and she never once laid a hard shell again. She had been the best layer in the flock.

Doesn’t look like it is held down. When she first came she had injuries with the head. She was best layer also. I think it is an infection not sure what though I’ll try amox.
