What is this?

Ok do some visualizing with me. My BEARDED EE roo has this super red area around the corners of his mouth (circled area is all red) on both sides. They're not wattles. I could not get good pics because he's sleeping lol

It is as read as his comb is! What is this?

I don't really see anything, but then, my sight is not the greatest. Sometimes, areas besides the comb will turn a bit red at sexual maturity -- point of lay, or ready to crow and mate. Perhaps this is what this is???
