i have one rir and i dont know what this is on her back,and neck.i treated for mites and it did not get better.none of the other coop mates have this problem,i think it showed up after ''the coon wars of 012'' i lost 9 that night and this hen lost an eye,and then this showed up.she eats,drinks,and lays an egg now and then.she doesnt act sick and i have not seen her being picked on so im lost

It's really hard to tell what I am looking at in that picture. Could you give a detailed description of what you are seeing?

i will try and get a better pic,the fethers are gone the skin is kinda flacky,i dont see anything crawling around just a lot of fether loss.it looks like the quil might be growing back,it is hard to say let me try and get a better pic

It looks like feathers coming in. If she's behaving fine I'd say you have nothing to worry about. If it gets red the other hens might peck at her. You can spray with blu-kote to darken the skin. It's also a mild antiseptic.

i thought maybe she is looking better,and yes it looks like quils growing ,thats the black you see.but then i notice the neck looks the same and i didnt see that before,she does'nt look like she feels bad she runs and eats drinks.she is way smaller than the other hens . i got them all at the same time as chicks.i will keep any eye on her thought about putting her in a cage by her self ,and see if it helps.thank you for your help ...god bless
