Hey guys, I went and bought 3, 9 week old harlequin bunnies. They are beautiful BUT I noticed that they all have scaley patches on the outsides of their ears and I was wondering what this could be? It isn't very severe, I'm still not sure why I didn't notice this before I bought them >.< My first guess is fur mites but I'm not 100% sure. *shrugs* Any Ideas? I will post pics in a minute!

This is the best pic I could get. I'm not sure if you can even see what is going on, but basically that is a patch of scaley skin where some of the fur is missing.

They also seem to be missing fur around their eyes, or it is very thin at the least.

So what do you think? I just treated with some Ivomec skin wash my mom has for ear mites. That stuff can cure anything, or at the very least it will give what ever it is a hard time. ;)

Possibly ear mites . I believe you'd use some kind of oil to kill them off . I've never had them though so I'm not a 100% sure as I've never seen them ,. Their very cute though :)

Thank you for the reply :) but no, I've seen ear mites before, this is different. The insides of their ears are clean, it's just these little scaley patches in their fur. One even had one on one of his back toes so it isn't just on the ears either. I don't know, but the stuff I'm using seems to have cleared it up some. :)

Looks like ringworm. Apply some antifungal, like athletes foot.cream, 3 times a day till it clears up. Rabbits usually don't get ring worm. But anything us possible.

True, It might very well be ring worm but thankfully it seems to be clearing up. No new patches and the old ones seem to be healing up nicely. :)

Ivermectin applied to the area works well you can also spay some lemon tea... By lemon tea I mean you boil lemons and let the water cool and spray them w/ it.
