Just went into the coop and found this in the poo under the roost. I wasn't sure if it was even made by a chicken at first, but then I picked it up and there was an egg inside! I have NO idea what it is, but it was basically surrounding the egg until I scraped it off. It was like a sack. There was lots of clear gel in there that reminded me of gelatin.

    Weird!

I don't know... Chickens do lay some pretty weird things.

Looks like an egg with another egg membrane on the outside. Kind of like an egg within an egg type thing.

That's what I was thinking, too. Is the egg still safe to eat?

Uh, probably-- but would you want to? Did you lose a bet or something?

Haha true. It was totally clean when it came out of there. Maybe I shouldn't. Now you have me worried. Haha.

Whoa! that's weird. I would say just get rid of it unless you're craving an egg right now lol

Yeah, I'll just toss it. I've got plenty to spare.
