What is this?

I am no expert (joined the forum to learn more, in fact), but he could be of some more primitive lineage, given how he resembles a junglefowl.

Definitely not a junglefowl, but quite certainly closely related. His build and feather texture has a striking resemblance to red junglefowls, so knowing he might be closely related/derived from them might help a little when finding out his breed.

Don't take my word as fact, but he looks a lot like an american game bantam, although not too much, so probably what they say, american game mix. I am inclined to say a mix between the american game and the american game bantam. I've had a very similar bird, he was actually older than me, being hatched in 1996, he lived until 2008 or so.

Thats a good while for a chicken to live.

I had an old english game hen that I had for 12 years, sadly I lost her to a fox, or a probably would have had her for another few years.
