What Is Up With "Cute"? (Horses)

I understand the 'cute' looking/acting horse but I am totally clueless as to what a 'cute mover' can mean????

I usually use it to mean that the horse is a nice mover, but not spectacular or anything... I guess for me it's sligthly above average. I don't really use it in a derogatory way. I prefer to be more direct... Or I just go with "if you can't say anything nice"

For me, cute is a personality description more than a physical description. To me, the most masculine stallion can do something that is cute.

Perhaps you need to have a connection with the animal to see the "cuteness" within?

My experience has been that 'cute personality' is what other people's horse's have, YOUR horse is, on the other hand, a pain in the, well, you know.

Around these parts, "cute" seems to be more well-meaning in terms of physical beauty, or at least in the arab circles. I work and board at a barn geared toward Arabian and half-Arabian horses showing at a very high level. I've only ever heard "cute" used in a positive context here.

It has nothing to do with demeaning the somehow godly status of a horse ("I'd use cute with a dog, but not a horse") or something in that regard. It's just the lingo of the times.

As far as movement/jumping, it has a similar meaning as has been discussed before. "Cute jump" is better to hear, although it would never be applied to anything outside of the ammy circuit..."cute mover" means, well, nice but nothing fancy. But certainly not bad!

However, I've NEVER heard this applied to a stallion before now...at least not a good one.
