What is up with my duck??

Well, I am going to agree with Terri, to me it looks like spraddle legs, maybe not a severe case like we are used to seeing but he is spraddled enough so he can't walk right. Otherwise he seems to be acting normal to me.

Well after hobbling his legs up now all he does is lay on his back with his legs in the air. Poor guy.My husband is worried h's going to drown in the small bowl of water but since he never gets up I'm not too worried. I have been helping him eat. I wonder if I should get another one just in case he doesn't make it.

email this lady... She could help you alot. That duckling has balance issues, The lady (my grandma) Has a duck with the same issues she is full grown and goes down to the pnd with the rest of the ducks and goes right back up into her house.

Normally it helps to hold the duck upright many, many times a day and help it bend its legs in the right position so it can sit up, just like physical therapy, your duck has to learn how to walk again. How do you have it hobbled. I have found that the hobble has to leave some movement so that each leg can step forward some.

between it's foot and knee. They are in the bath right now and one leg he wont bend so hes just swimming around in circles. I feel so bad for the little guy!

I have a little lady who I got as a day old with a similar behavior. She would eat, drink and then it was like she saw something over head and she would look straight up and then her head would just slowly keep rotating back, back, back, till she was on her back then she woudl sit there for a while. I think she even slept on her back for a while. She did this for about 4 weeks, we were sure she was ill, dying, or handicaped, but now, 19 weeks later, she is normal healthy and quite good sized. My understanding as to what was happening was that her muscles were just not quite working correctly. I dont know if your little guy has the same issue but I hope you resolve it and that he is ok.

Well he's not doing good at all. He can't eat on his own any more and none of his feathers are coming in. The other duck is the same age and is half way feathered out. I think he might be going up to the big pond in the sky soon.

I did buy another duckling so the big one won't be lonely. It a roeun. It is the sweetest thing ever and the big one is really good at watching over it.

Apparently, they carry a lethal gene. I think it's sad. That's why I would never create the poor little creatures to begin with. I wouldn't feel right bringing them into the world considering they are so susceptible to developmental disorders.
