I have a beautiful flock of all kinds of chickens and all I can think about is getting some eggs to but under one of my broodies. But not just any eggs. I want showgirls so bad that is all I can think about. I don't have room for them and I don't want to get rid of any of my other birds.

I did sell some chicks earlier.

Why can't I just be happy? Am I that obsessed? After I have my showgirls what will I want next? Will this ever stop? I think I need an intervention.

Here are some pics of some of my chickie babies. This is just a few. I couldn't possibly show all of them.

Oh, I completely understand the obsession. I started last November and now have 68 chickens/chicks.

Now I'm getting Polishes. I said I'd never want to hatch, but my incubator (and added hatcher) has been going since May. I said I'd never want bantams, but I'm starting to consider those Mille Fleurs.

I don't know how we learn to balance the "enough" point. I keep telling myself that I can have a mixed flock, but then I should pick just a couple breeds of chickens to breed. But I can't decide which couple.

Morgan is quite the handsome rooster!

I feel ya! I've wanted to own pet chickens for as long as I can remember. I finally got four sweet little babies in the beginning of June. They are the most darling and entertaining little birds. They are an interesting mix. The woman who sold them to us told us they had some silkie and oegb in them. My boyfriend, Chris, didn't want anymore chickens than 2 to begin with but I had my 4 amazing little chikies which lead me to look up different breeds of chickens as well as the fact that my boyfriend is from Corvallis, Oregon and he had raised chickens for show/fun as a kid. He told me about his little mille fleur belgian d'uccle rooster named François. He sounded absolutely adorable! It's hard to find breeders in San Diego so I couldn't help myself when I found out I could order chicks in the mail. I'm so bad that I didn't even tell him when I did. I ordered them a couple months in advance in hopes that I could warm him up to the idea of more chickens before they arrived. He eventually said ok but didn't know I meant that chicks were going to be here the week of August 10th. I got the phone call from the post office on the 11th and had to fess up so we could pick them up. He couldn't believe it!

Told me that I was lucky he loved me so much! He made me promise not to get anymore chickens. Except now he wants a partridge cochin hen like the one he had as a kid. I think I'm happy with the 8 I have. There's a silver laced wyandotte cuddled on my lap as I type this. I love my babies and so does my boyfriend. ♥

Mango. He acts like a big rooster but he's a real momma's boy. He loves to sit in my lap and I'd end up petting him forever if he had his way!

BeccaOH: I love my d'uccles. They are my lap birds. The come a running when they see me. I have a mille too. She's beautiful. Be careful with polish. Mine get pecked really bad and I have to seperate them.

Scratches with chickens: Love the pics. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad I'm not alone with these issues. D'uccles are one of my favorites.
