What is wrong?**UPDATE ON PG.2**

M@M@2four :

She could be over-heated...are you feeding any kind of corn feed? If so, stop. Corn is fine in the fall and winter months, but it also causes the body to generate heat.

Ummm, no. Here is a thread that discusses at length the common but incorrect belief that corn generates too much heat in the summer:

Very interesting thread with contributions from some people who are very well-educated in this area. As I now understand it, corn actually helps them deal with heat.

Sorry to hear about that. If you can't find the state vet to perform a necropsy then make sure to treat the body like a biohazzard. The big thing for you right now is to try not to let the other birds catch the same thing.
Is this your first year with chickens?

Well, by August you'll be an expert in bio-security. How are your other bids doing? If they start getting sick too it will happen in the next week or so. You may notice one of them kind of puffed up abnormally, hear sneezing, see abnormal droppings.
The next time you want to add birds to your flock give some thought to the safest way you can do this. Safest is to hatch your own eggs, followed by hatching someone else's eggs, buying day old chicks from hatchery, and last is buying started birds. If you do get birds from someone else, quarentine them for 30 days before mixing them with your flock. It's a shame that this happened to you, but believe me, it has happened to a lot of people who have had chickens for years. When it gets bad is when you have to cull your entire flock you've bred for years to stop a disease that you yourself brought home when you knew better.
Good luck!
