What is wrong w/this CRAZY chick!!!

I know that it is just a baby chicken, but, the only time it is quiet is if I or someone else go in and talk to it or pick it up. Could it be spoiled??? I know that sounds crazy,....Maybe i talked too much to it while it was in the egg.

Usually a peepy chick is in some sort of distress. check his vent carefully. When I can't figure something like that out I resort to a drop or two of poly-vi-sol direct and hope for the best.

Sounds like the banty chick i just posted about... if you go in he settles down, but is VERY vocal... wondered if i had spoiled him, don't know sex or breed...

I had a set of chicks that were very similar. Supposed to all be hens and go figure the loud and obnoxious one turned out to be
a roo! Trust me he stayed loud!

I don't think you can really spoil a baby chick. I think you might want to take her out and carry her around for a while... show her the place and play with her. See if that quiets her down.
...key thing I have only said 'her'

Think female and gabby, not male and crowing..

He is quiet now,..sleeping like an angel. BUT, if it is like this morning at 5:30 on the dot he woke me up doing his extreme peeping. Maybe he is a roo. Never seen one like it, but glad to know its not only me with an obnoxious chick.

Have you tried the rice in a sock trick? Haven't done it myself (no need, thank goodness), but many here say it works wonders. You put rice in a sock and microwave it until it is warm, so they have something to cuddle up to (like Mommy). I use a snuggle-safe, they seem to like that though it is not cuddly.

My banties were "mama's babies" too! My remaining one doesn't cry for me much now, but I think she's finally used to being in with her age-mates (though not size-mates...lol) She snuggles under their wings at night.

I *don't* want to scare you at all, but just as a side note.....my most vocal banty was the one who ended up getting sick with something and dying yesterday morning.

Maybe do the "apple cider vinegar in the drinking water" trick as a bit of insurance against some kind of tummy upset.

It is nice to feel needed though, isn't it? Admit it!!!
