easy system means easy access
and not everyone has perfect morals. never will there be.

and some deplorable situations means a good person might just "take the inch over the line" into abuse.


no it isn't right to take advantage of anything---but it is human nature built in to take the easy way out mostly....some will do it, some would never do it.
no one will change that fact.

you make a great point but I think so many are scared of what lies ahead if that happened.

scared to change. easier to stay with the bad and live with it than to make monster changes for the unknown.

I agree Red. And we can back that up to the fact that that morals are taught by parents and other adults in our lives (usually). So, if little Johhny sees that his parent(s) and grandparent(s) are stuck in the system, then he will most likely not aspire beyond that.

If hardwork is taught and learned as evidenced by many posters on this thread then the same can be said for the opposite side.

So....how do we get involved with the current generation of folks who may not have ever had the opportunity to experience success, self reliance, pride in accomplishment etc? I firmly believe that simply changing the system and the policies is not the total answer. It is a mind set that we are changing. One that in some cases is generations old. My guess is that we do it one person and one family at a time.

Be someones Bridge out of Poverty. (see Ruby Payne's works). Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to raise a family.
Who can each of us help out? Not hand out?

I dont think its too big to fail, I think its too big to be successful forever. We are already pouring more into it than we will ever get out of it.

Can you help me to see how the failure of this will create new jobs? All I can see is a black hole. I really am looking for insight, not questioning your idea. If suddenly the already precarious job market were to be flooded with folks who truly needed and wanted to work, where would the jobs come from?

Are you thinking that monies that we normally pay in for social systems would still be in our pockets and thus allowing tax payers more discretionary income? I think I am getting this...stay with me...So I might spend my newly found discretionary income on a new vehicle or a new home which would then in turn boost the economy? Yes?

That does indeed make sense but the length of time between the crash of the system and the time we see that money back in our pockets could be very dark and bleak for many.

And the ultimate question...would the govt lower taxes or just find new uses for it on their own which as of late, I have to say that I am not pleased with their choices of spending....

I agree with you 100% ! My children are 12 years apart, they have been raised identically and yet they are as different as night and day and neither of them hold to the same mentality that I did growing up..."work for what you want and be thankful for what you have", I see it more and more. I have had parents question me as to why I need to meet them before my daughter goes to spend the night at their house with their daughter. They act as if I was from another planet or the stone age because I would like to meet, face to face, the parents that will be HOPEFULLY overseeing my child for the night/day. And woe be it that I dared to ask for their address, names and phone number, cell if they have one. It is unbelievable and the saddest thing...what is it teaching the kids? That is okay to just let your child go wherever, with whomever and have no worries? Not in my world.

I have had them dropped off here to stay with my daughter and left without so much as a "Hi, I am her mother...blah blah". We had one girl here that had an allergic reaction to peanut sauce...her parents knew she is allergi, she knew it but she wanted the sauce anyway and it was ME who took her to the hospital and do you know it took us 5 hours to find the stupid parents and another 2 for them to get to the hospital.

I now have rules in my house...

1. If I do not know the parents, their address, their phone, their cell phone and vice versa...NO GOING!

2. If you want to leave your child with me, I will have all of the above PLUS the knowledge of where I can find you while I have your child or NO COMING HERE!

3. If you want me to do custom work for you, you get it when the check clears NO EXCEPTIONS

4. If you want something from me (referencing my kids) then your butt shall work for it, take care of it and be responsible for it or YOU DO NOT GET IT!


I am sick of the liberal lazy attitude and the "I am owed xyz"...no one is owed anything...work for it or do without it.

Sure it can be fixed. Simply take it back to what it was designed for. To HELP make ends meet. No more of this "To support you". The welfare system came into action because of the depression and it was there to help you make ends meet when your wages did not cover it...to help folks get by. It was never designed to be a support system where you sit on your butt at home, collect a check, get paid for having kid, so you have three or four more and get paid for them as well. If they want it, then their butts can work everyday and get a little extra to make ends meet...if you do not work...you do not get. period point the end.

I gotta go from this...it is a topic that hits a sore spot with me and these lazy freeloaders in this country. It is disgusting.​
