I have 6 Isa Brown chickens about 7-8 weeks old. They were all great yesterday but one of them is just laying there breathing heavy this morning. No other symptoms. Any suggestions as to what I should look for? Help me save my baby. Thank you

I am so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, this does come with the territory - and a lot of times the first sign of something wrong is a dead or dying bird - but don't write off chickens entirely just yet. When you do go to check your chicks make sure to take note of the environment - are they still in a brooder or out in the coop, have they been outdoors at all yet, any unusual poos present, etc. I hope that your remaining five are able to bring you comfort.

Get some Corid and keep it on hand in case that chick had coccidiosis. If you see any more loose stools or any more chicks start looking slow or lethargic start treating immediately. Or if you want to be on the safe side you can just go ahead and run a course of treatment, that is what I would do.
Cafarmgirl has advised you well on getting Corid (also called ampromed or amprollium.) It is in the cattle section of most farm stores in liquid or powder packets. Dosage is 2 tsp of liquid (or 1.5 tsp of powder) per gallon of water. Mix fresh daily, and treat for 5-7 days. After they finish, give a couple of days of vitamins and probiotics (like buttermilk or a little plain yogurt.)
