Keep finding this in place of eggs she was laying.
Anyone know what is wrong and what I need to do?
Please help.

Thank you!

Tiffany

Those look like soft shells?
She is probably laying soft shells, and since they're soft, having an easy time eating the eggs.
Do you supplement with calcium?

What kind of calcium? I'm so new to raising chickens and still learning.
Where do I get it?
Will this cure the problem?
She has been my only laying hen for a while now, and all of a sudden this.
Thank you for replying back.
Really freaked me out.

You can add oyster shell for chickens set aside and she will eat it when needed.its very important to supplement calcium for laying hens. You buy the oyster shell from tractor supply or such. This should cure the problem. Sometimes egg "mistakes" happen even with calcium but my guess is she does likely need it since you have not been supplementing. Lots of different reasons for egg mistakes and it's really quite common. I would add the calcium and not worry unless it becomes a regular occurance. This egg looks like one of those egg Boo boos that happen. Like she forgot to add the shell or perhaps needs more calcium to produce the shell. These things happen and it's usually nothing to worry about. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Oh my.......my poor hen that has been laying soft-shell eggs is still laying them.
The one she laid yesterday, the yolk came out of the soft shell and it is all over her bottom.
I bought the oyster shell, but she doesn't seem to want it. Going to get some yogurt and/or cottage cheese.
Other than laying these booboo eggs, she is walking, drinking and eating just fine.
Any other suggestions? Do I really need to glove my hand and find out what is going on up there?
Will a warm bath help?

Yes give her a warm bath. She really needs you to try the calcium. If she won't eat the oyster shell you can grind up egg shells and try and give her some. Its about ruling out what exactly the problem is here. If she gets the calcium and is still having trouble laying she could have some reproduction issues but since she is lacking in calcium you need to try that first to see if it will correct the problem or not. If she won't eat the calcium you can give her a injection of calcium glutenate at 1/2cc and see if that helps her. If you can't find that you can actually give her a human calcium pill.get the calcium into her and see if there is a imorovement in the eggs. This way you can either confirm or deny lack of calcium being the cause. Once she gets adequate calcium and if she still is having that problem she likely has reproductive issues and I would keep a close eye on her for any signs of internal laying ect. But in order to determine the cause you should first rule out weather or not lack of calcium is causing the issues or not by getting her to injest or inject calcium and see if it helps her at all. I really hope this helps. I would try the human calcium pill like I mentioned and see if it helps her eggs. Best of luck to you and God bless
