I went to let the ducks out of the coop this morning and my 2nd duck is rolling around and can’t move his head. He’s only two and idk if he has a broken neck or an illness. Any info is appreciated, planning on getting him to a vet tomorrow but I fear he won’t last

I'm sorry, I really wish I had an answer for you.

Is there anything toxic he could have gotten into? What do you usually feed them? Do they get enough niacin?

If you can, try to get him to drink some water with activated charcoal in it. If he ingested something bad, this will help neutralize and absorb it.

Wrap him up in a towel so he doesn't injure himself and place him in a small carrier or box to limit his movements.

How is the duck's overall behavior? Alert? Eyes open and focused? Breathing okay? Have you examined the entire body, feeling for any broken bones?

There are two benign possibilities. One is the duck has torticollis (wry neck). Slip a capsule of vitamin E into the beak. Another is heat or cold sickness depending on the weather where you are. (Gosh, if only everyone would include their location so I don't have to keep asking this stupid question.) Give one cup of warm water with one teaspoon sugar and a pinch of salt and baking soda.

Do both of those treatments right now. Hopefully, you will see immediate results.

Thanks for all the replies, I live in nyc right now and it’s cold but not below 20, he has his eyes closed and only opens them when he flips around. Nothing looks broken as he was perfectly fine yesterday, this is so weird and I’ve never seen anything like this. I feed them generic waterfowl pellets

What's the Niacin level?
