What is wrong with my roosters legs?

I went outside today to check on my chickens and give them fresh water. I noticed my roosters legs look a little funny so I picked him up and they looked like this. Can anybody tell me what this is and how to treat it?

Since winter has arrived the air is much dryer, so I think he just has really dry skin. Is there any way you can moisturize his legs?

Would coconut oil work for that??

It looks to me like some of his scales have fallen off from a bit of scaley leg, but you're probably right.

That looks like scaley leg mite damage, put a thin coat of petroleum jelly on his legs to treat him.

You did good, any kind of oil would help the roo's problem and the only reason i know is because he's lumpy and mites make lumpy legs.

You're very welcome, just keep him oiled or petroleum jellied for a while to smother those mites.
