What is your average humidity level for chicken eggs at lockdown?

Thanks jvls1942. Would a dry papertowel covering the bottom of the bator on the floor do any good or just leave it alone like you said?

Ok, thanks!

I have two pips and one that just hatched. I will sit on my hands if I have to! I will not open the bator. Here's hoping for the best eventhough it sounds like my humidity is waaaaay to high.

If one has hatched your humidity will shoot way up. You have a wet chick in there bringing it up. I don't worry about the humidity once they start to hatch. Just sit back and enjoy!

Mine lockdown at around 65 but no more than 70. I agree with scottfarm with finding what works best in your unique situation.

Thanks everyone! My humidity did shoot up like pp have said. It's at around 87% - 90% but I have had four that have hatched (two I have already taken out and put in my brooder because they were dry) and two more that are pipped and 4 more waiting to do something. So I guess the humidity level that I have isn't too bad. I will know for next hatch though to not fill up so many resevoirs. Thanks everyone for pitching in with advice and letting me know of what your humidity is at for lockdown!!!

I can tell you what I do; I remove both red plugs and fill up both channels in my 1602 and it gives me 70-75%, good nuff for me. Using 1 channell only gives me about 60% so I use both. I use red water in 1 and green water in the other so I can see when it's about to dry up.

Yeah England I'll use a sponge. If my channels dry up and I got pips, instead of removing the lid and shrink wrapping the pips I'll crack the lid just enough to quickly toss a piece of wet sponge in there to get the humidity back up.
