What is your chickens' favorite treat?

I'd have to say that bread and raisins rank the highest as favorite treats. Chopped apples mixed with plain yogurt are popular, too. Swiss chard and brussel sprout leaves in the garden, picked off directly by the chicken and not fed by human hands, rank up there as well. I don't think we got to eat any swiss chard this year. There was none for me to pick. The chickens ate it all.

Bread is without a doubt their favorite. It's gotten to the point that, if I walk out the back door and they are free ranging, they run to me expecting it. I once had the vet out to stitch up a horse and one of the hens thought the stack of gauze the vet tech was holding was a piece of bread. She jumped up and tried to steal the gauze right out of the tech's hand. She settled for a piece of horse flesh instead.

This afternoon, after reading some of these posts, I brought my spoiled girl Mistenbell inside for some treats. I crushed up a bananna and added the end of a loaf of white bread to it. Mistenbell wouldn't touch it. I was disappointed so I picked her up along with the bowl of food to take her back to her friends and of course as soon as I get in the run all the other chickens come running because they know I have treats. Then Mistenbell decides she likes banannas and bread....go figure!!!!

My chicken's favorite is blueberries & bananas, but truthfully, they eat anything not nailed down. What is their fascination with Styrofoam!!!!!
