What is your daily schedule like??

this summer during the week we get up at 7:20, Im usually awake by 6.
I get dressed and get my youngest dressed, meds and something to eat. we pull out at 7:50 for day camp at 8:30 (45 miles there and back) during the school year we get up at 7am and off to drop him at school at 7:20( thats only 10 minutes away). I come home and watch tv and eat something. I dont have a real structured routine, just what needs to be done that day. I try to tend the chickens and do any yard or garden work early before it gets too warm and humid. Just the usual household stuff to do and usually a nap for me (Im a night owl, cant help it) before leaving at 1:45 to pick up little one at camp for 2:30. (during school the bus brings him at 3:45) after hes home he likes to play outside some, the garden is shaded by then so I might do something then, other wise I dont get to much but picking up and supper after hes home. Bed time and bath between 8-9. My bed time is usually between 10 and 11.

Here's an idea -- how about an unscheduled life? That's what I aim for. It's a little nuts because I'm a grant writer for a non-profit part time, so I'm supposed to be a slave to the calendar. But I've been working for the last several years from home, and I've been learning how to pay attention to the needs of the present moment and to address them as they emerge.

As a result, I've gotten much more in tune with my inner clock, with the seasons, and I really don't feel as rushed. It seems to me there's time for everything, in the fullness of time. It's mostly a matter staying present to what's in front of me and cultivating a feeling for what's approaching.

We too homeschool year round, we blend Waldorf and unschooling and adventure learning. Basically we *do* instead of only reading, and where we use books I follow the Waldorf philosophy.

So...

We wake when we wake up, there are no alarm clocks. We are usually all up by 7:30. One of my daughters tends to sleep longer, which is not a problem since she's listening to her body (she's 10). She usually wakes around 8:30.

We don't go by any clock but instead have daily rhythms and I do have tasks I do at certain points during the day.

We eat breakfast together and I try to have done my nighttime routine so the kitchen is ready to receive dirty breakfast dishes. As they are getting up in the morning and I am making breakfast, I set out plates of fruit for snacking.

After breakfast we go outside and garden, take care of any farm chores, and get a good dose of exercise in. We live on 2.5 acres so there is a lot of fun to be had with outdoor play.

When it gets too hot for us, we head back in. We do homeschooling projects together, have lunch, play, etc. I do have a household routine (we do Flylady - www.flylady.net) and the kids participate in caring for the house. We give back to the house since it keeps us safe, dry, etc. and it's not thought of as a burden.

I try to do my lunch and dinner prep as I'm cleaning up from the previous meal, so I'm not in and out of the kitchen all day and feeling like it's drudgery. My daughters love to cook and often make our meals.

I do laundry daily rather than weekly; with 4 kids I do not want to spend an entire day once a week doing a mountain of laundry. I put a load in first thing in the morning, 1-2 more times during the day, and last thing before bed.

We do a late afternoon "house rescue" for ONLY 15 minutes and it takes care of the day's mess.

Late afternoon sees us back outside gardening, playing, and doing farm chores.

I try (not always successfully) to have supper early and then play outside in the evening.

We try to follow the natural day's rhythm, so as evening falls the kids head in for calmer time and bed.
