What is your Eggspert opinion to the chicken breed of these eggs?

Suuuper cute, congratulations! So is that from one of the mystery eggs? It definitely doesn’t look like an AC...
I suspect it is a Speckled Sussex but don't really know.

Only four of the chicks hatched. Here they are and I have no clue what they are. The one that looks like a penguin came from the white egg.

I pretty sure that you are correct about the SS. From everything I have seen and my chicks I would say that it’s not a Welsummer because of the beak. Here is my Welsummer and SS. The SS has the Brownish on the end of her beak.

A mystery hatch sounds fun. I think it would drive me crazy trying to guess. I have to imagine it's really difficult to guess breed by egg color. My Buff Orpingtons lay anywhere from dark brownish/purple, to tan, to almost white, to speckled. Even the same chicken varies tremendously with mine. Good luck with the new chicks.

I hope the picture shows up well. This was yesterday's eggs all from my BOs. I didn't realize there was so much variation in the same breed.
