What is your favorite breed of all time and why?

For all that love BOs. What about other varieties of Orpingtons?
For all that love Barred Rocks. What about all the other varieties of Plymouth Rocks?
Don't they share the same characteristics other than color?
I have Lavender Orpingtons as well as Chocolate Orpingtons and I love them both!

Silkies!! They are the teddy bear of the chicken world and love their people! Also Rhode Island Reds and Barred Rocks, they are hardy layers and friendly when they want to be.

my brother has silkies! tough to sex so he winded up with two roos! My barred rock is helping me pick lol

Agreed ChickenCanoe!

However they can sometimes be tough to come by at local hatcheries and breeders will only sell straight run- I am looking for hens :) If anyone knows of a hatchery that will sell more rare varieties with a minimum of 3 order- let me know!
Cackle

Any difference in personality with the color differences?
I got the Lavender Orpingtons and Chocolate Orpingtons as pullets. My Lavender girls are friendlier, but they both come running to me when they hear the gate open. I find that if I don't use just the "right" feed, they won't lay. My Lavender girls are older than the Chocolate Orpingtons.

I love my RIR-only have one and she is very curious and friendly. I have one silver laced wyandotee- she's sweet. I also have Swedish Isbars, cream legbars and German Bielefelders, and 55 Flowery hens. My RIR is a great layer and so are the Bielefelders and cream legbars.

I have heard a lot of good things about RIR- unfortunately the ones I have met have been downright LOUD!!! I think there are heritage breeds and production reds- I am thinking I have only met production reds... The heritage breeds I met at the Ohio National Poultry show in November were so chill and beautiful!!
Hmmm- I don’t find mine to be extremely loud but they do make some noise when I first go out there to feed and let them out. I may be comparing them to my ducks though, which are much louder! I live far enough out where noise isn’t a problem for me
