What is your favorite breed of duck?

I like the Kaki Campbell they have a lot of personally my best layer are those hybrids from Mezta farms . They are laying fools.   

I've had kakhi campbells in the past and yes they are egg laying fools! There nice ducks, good foragers.

Love me some Cayuga and Welsh Harlequin:

Both breeds are relatively calm, and decent layers. The Cayuga lay a decent size light grey egg (often not fitting into a jumbo chicken carton) and originating from upstate NY (Lake Cayuga, Fingerlakes Region) are hardy and tolerant of cold temps. The Welsh are smaller, beautiful birds (IMHO), and in my flock tend to lay more than the Cayugas. It is impressive the size of the egg that comes out of the relatively small duck!

Every once in a while one of them will let out a loud "quack", but most of the time they sound like they are talking among themselves. The wife believes it's the girls nagging the boys, but I digress. Also, one of the bullet points to my decision on these two breeds is that they are both on the endangered list, so if you are not going to eat them, consider a breed that could use some preservation.

I can't decide, so I got one of each. Well, of four different breeds, anyway. I have two mallards (possibly Rouen?), and now a Welsh Harlequin, a Khaki Campbell, a Cayuga, and a Blue Swedish. I think the Cayuga and I get along the best, but I love the others, too.

Wow! I love all the pics! They are all beautiful! We did decide to add ducks. I bought some duck eggs from a local farm to try and they were AWESOME! We ended up popping the last 6 into the incubator. Five of the six are developing. They are set to hatch in a week. I will post some duckling pics! When I emailed the farmer, he said they are Khaki Campbell, runners, and Pekins who all run around together, so they will be mutts. That's ok- some of my favorite hens are EEs, so we love mutts around here. If things work out, I would really love to add some Welsh Harlequins. They are so, so pretty and on the ALBC list.

Mutts are awesome! If I ever get a drake, I'll have a whole yard full of mutts.
