What is your favorite equine discipline and why? (include pix option)

I had a Fino once, too...and I've ridden several...they're not bad horses--probably top 5 of my favorite breeds, I just like my Peruvians better for their gait, size, bone & temperament...yours look pretty thick, though--how are they bred?

What is the real reason for the crupper or butt leathers hanging so low to their hocks? I know they have those decorative "mud flaps" diamond shaped leather in front of tail.

And the ojos leather pieces? Is that one way of putting them in its place rather than hobble them?????

I've ridden quarterhorses, arabians, tennessee walkers, and icelandics. We do also own an appendix qtrhorse, she is an absolute sweetheart. My first real 'gaited' experience was on Icelandics and I was SOLD. We have a full Columbian stallion, but most of our horses weigh more on the Puerto Rican side. Honey is 3/4 Puerto Rican.

The chestnut stallion with the full costume, reminds me of Caramelo (V).

All my Pasos were of Muneco LaCE, Hilachas with Bolero LaCE throw in. My chestnut mare I had, went to Wind Song Farms with Jackie Garamella (whatever happened to her, we lost contact!) and she did well and went on to Blueberry Farm to be bred to their Faeton LaCE son, Eduardo Be LaCE. After that I lost touch of the whereabout of my wonderful mare! She must be in her twenties....anyone got a stud book on Pasos to see how many offsprings she had and if she is still alive at the time of publication????????

I've had others and I did had a few sour apples, due to my impulsed buys which I ended up giving them good homes. My last Paso was an ex-stud, and he did well in his younger years an dI didnt have the time or money to keep him boarded and needed a new car, so it was either a new car to get to work or ride the horse to work LOL! Songbird Danino was his name and he was a real beauty but a spitfire if he wanted to be.

ALL of my Pasos except for one, were bought from Ron Hickam of Songbird Farms...he was a good guy until Danino came to me in a rack of bones, I was ticked! He said that the mares were picking on him but good God, any good horse owner would have seen a horse that has been browbeating by mares and he only got bits and pieces of leftover and many times, nothing. It took me a whole year to get him back in condition not riding him for a while. I didnt want to see him or talk to him since Danino step foot on my barn. He always had good horses and never gave me any problems until this.

I do not know if he still raises them but I would be cautious about getting anything from him right now. I know it was only ONE horse but ONE horse was enough to convience me that poor horsemanship husbandry was lacking to sort out bully mares and underfed horses.

I'd never had anything to do with Peruvians until last weekend when I visited my friends horses at the boarding stable. The couple that own the property have Peruvians and the lady was working her stallion in the arena. Here's a couple of pics I took.

I love all horses but have spent more time with standardbreds than any other. I love them because they're sane, hardy and tough. Go all day and nothing bothers them. Oh, and the ones I had never required shoes.

Of course, the foundation stock of Quarter Horses and Pasos are Spanish zenates (aka Jennets), the original working cow horse of the Moors!
