What is your favorite hatchery?

I ordered guineas from Cackle but am having 50% losses from coccidia and assumed rough shipment. They did refund me for some that died but I will be getting any future birds locally just to save them and myself the stress. They are helpful on the phone and the refund is much appreciated but I just wish they didn't arrive with coccidia.

Hmm sorry you had bad luck. Shipping guineas and other game type bird can sometimes be more rough on them . From the birds I've gotten from them, there has been no sign of Coccidia. It is also a very clean hatchery. Glad their customer service was helpful, though.Yeah, buying local is usually your best bet on any animals. Shipping causes stress and stress leads to losses.

Yeah. Mostly good reviews I saw were for chickens and I think they may have gotten chilled in shipping. I found a place locally that has guineas an hour away so may order from there in the spring and pick up directly.

Just having trouble finding a local place that has geese (wanted a few as guardians/weeders) but I'll post in the local places when looking for them.

I ordered from allot of hatcheries but will never order from mcmurray again or cackle both were terrible as cackle gave me 56 sick chicks and mcmurray the whole order died on arrival but could of been the post office i did buy my geese from mm in 2011 they are still doing great but not they dont sell sexed geese so i ordered from ideal came nice and healthy

I love cackle! Great experiences with them every time. I've purchased from Meyer because they're closer but, I've had downright horrific experiences with them. Their customer service is great, but I will never order again from them because of sick, dead, and deformed chicks. I can't speak for the rest of the hatcheries, but in going to try out a few new ones in the spring. I'd like to try Murray McMurray. If you want me to explain more of what happened and send you some pictures of the deformities I'm dealing with at the moment from Meyer just let me know.

Just so odd how experiences are so all over the place. My Cackle order has resulted in 20/22 guinea fowl dead (they just stopped growing despite following hatchery and vet advice) and 1/7 turkeys dying. 8 birds surviving to 2 weeks out of 29 is not worth giving them another chance, imho.

Weird...i had deformities from cackle that I never seen before or ever dealt with before either

I have only gone through three hatcherys millars in alberta canada. Which i had really good service with when we had to place a quick order because the other hatchery had issues. But a friend of ours had awful luck with them. The next is my local or province hatchery antsys hatchery in SK. They had issues with there egg layers but where really respectful and honest with us. They also sell ducks and geese so am tempted to try an order from them again. And the last one is duckopolis from alberta. Which has had great service with us as i had to change my order like 3 times. But wherr respectful and very helpful still have yet to get my birds from them though.

Well, I only purchased the 100 broilers (heritage cockerels) + 5 exotics, and I was shocked when they were all so healthy. I would expect a couple to be DOA, but that wasn't the case. They're thriving, and super healthy stock. My issues with Meyer didn't happen once. It has happened numerous times, over numerous orders over the last several months. I will admit their customer service is great, but still.
