i am attracted to the orientals.. ex: Yokohamas, Orloffs...malays...etc.
But I'd have to say that out of all of my chickens, there are 2 RIR hens that are just sweethearts. They love to fly up and perch on my shoulder, and they love to be held and pet.

Orpingtons are by far my most favorite of all breeds of chickens.

But I do have to say fried chicken is pretty high on my favorites list, too.

It'd be a toss up between Cochins and Silkies at this point. Meanwhile, I'm truly crazy about ALL of them. If someone had told me five years ago that I'd be spending my time posting messages on a chicken site, I would have thought they were nuts. Yesterday it was blissfully warm here in the Central Valley (CA), and while my DH putzed about with his tractor and his discing, I putzed about with my chickens. I had one of those moments of overwhelming gratitude and insight & happiness not just for the moment but for what's ahead for us - I can truly see us here in our retirement years doing the same putzing & being very happy & content.

Anyway, sorry to ramble.

I haven't decided. Which is a bad thing as i want this breed and that breed but the sweetest I have had is a quail d'anver loved her. Can't wait to get my order from sandhill, favs, chantcelers, jersey giants and wyadottes ( those are going to be living at the animal hosp I work at)
