What is your favorite rooster breed and why?

I just always get worried when I am about to buy one due to his tail feathers. I am afraid the other hens/roos will pluck his tail clean. And that is the beauty of a phoenix... *sigh*

I have a HUGE (At least 15-20lbs) True Rose comb Dominique Rooster, who WAS a perfect gentleman until this spring...he has since started attacking us. I love watching him with the girls though, such a good roo. I think I'll keep him around long enough to see if he mellows out when it isnt spring, otherwise he's either going to auction, or becoming Rooster and Rice.

I just love looking at him. So very handsome. I'm really hoping he mellows out in the summer... I'd love to keep him around.

Ameraucanas. Real ones, not the Easter Eggers everything thinks are "Americaunas"

They're in 99% of cases extremely friendly, very good gentlemen with the hens or even people, and almost never flighty or shy. They also make for gorgeous birds, too, especially in colors like Buff or Black.

Of all the roosters, they get along best with each other in a situation of males living together, they're the most "pet-like" and let's not forget their gorgeous sky blue eggs or ability to cross with other hens to make "Olive Eggers" or Easter Eggers.

He has a little khaki in the tail which is unwanted, but he's just a starter boy for improving the color and type. Something that makes a bird not Buff is black on the body though.

He's a sweetie though! Very quiet, very curious, always comes up to me and wants to know just what I have, what I'm doing, etc.

I have a RIR...he's mean as fire! Hates most people!

I also have a Barred Rock, Silver laced Wyandotte, and 3 barnyard mixes...they don't mind people and have never been mean. One of the barnyard mixes loves to be rubbed.

And last but not least I have bantams roos.....a red cochin, a black Jap., a black tailed buff jap., golden seabright and a dominique cochin. The dominique is my absolute favorite...he loves attention and makes the cutest little noises!!!
