It meant we were going out on the lake! Or four wheeling. Or on a road trip.

BBQ smoke still makes me sad, as most people utterly demolish good meat on their grill.

Early summer morning smell. I can't explain what it is, but it's GOOD.

The smell of my still wet newborn child. I know that sounds awful... but theres just something so animalistic and savage thats awakened in a mother by that smell- no matter what species. Even all these years later its a smell I still remember, even though it never exists.

Beyond that, stale cigar smoke, and coffee breath. My grampa smoked cigars, and my dad worked 80+ hours a week my whole childhood and lived on coffee, and every day when he got home from work and kissed us hello thats what he smelled like.

I'm enjoying reading this. Let me at it.

The smell of a good cigar before you light it
the smell of a good cigar after you light it
a freshly bathed "peanut" (my 3y/o in the pic)
Grandma's cooking
My deer stand when the sun first comes up on a chilly morning.

Since I moved to Northern Arizona, I looove the smell of juniper, especially after it rains. When I lived down in the Valley(Phoenix Metro area), I loved the smell of orange blossoms in the Spring, and the smell of the creosote and mesquite trees after a summer rain. The desert smells great after a rain! I miss that.

But, I sure don't miss the heat!

Oh, and I love the smell of PineSol. My mom used to clean house every Friday and that first snootful coming into the house after school let me know that all was right with the world!

I thought I was the only one who liked the smell of moth balls!

Here's a strange one...

I absolutely loathe cigarette smoke - can't stand it at all!

But I think the unlit cigarettes smell good. Am I a complete idiot?

I love the smell of Murphy's Oil Soap! My Mom used to clean the house with that stuff.

That is not crazy, I agree with you 100%! I used to work for a convenience store, and I LOVED the smell of the tabacco. But the smoke seriously could make me sick.
