what is your obsession with raising chickens?

You are absolutely right, the eggs and chicken are my therapy, that why I spend hours on end with my chickens and eggs to hold on to my sanity!!

So why do I continue to go to therapy?!? Come to find out, it wasnt the chicken and the eggs that were the problem, its my obsessiive compulsive disorder.

LOL I actually just needed a nudge in the right direction to let go of the eggs, there will always be more tomorrow, right?

I still play with the eggs, but for a better cause................ I give all the big and pretty colored ones to my regular paying customers.

I have stopped counting the eggs, but now I count the chickens,

Can you come over and clean my house? I hear OCD people are the best at that! They'll clean it to within an inch of it's life.

Roger that!

If I come to visit, please have an area outside to entertain me in, or I WILL clean everyroom.

LOL Dont offer to let me help myself to anything in your icebox because I WILL clean it out for you and rearrange it as well! LOL Dont leave me waiting in your car, I will find every speck of rubbish to pick up and throw it away and start wiping down the insides.

LOL Being OCD has its great qualities when it comes to helping others who also have some kind of mental health issues going on as well as managing the flock.

People are dumbfounded when they arrive at my property to purchase birds and/or eggs to see how clean my runs and coops are; its also odor free and literally bug free.

They all wonder how I do it? I tell them that I am still writing the book! Thank goodness that I have 16 ducks as well to help me manage the flies, could you imagine how long it would take me to catch all the flies everyday?

Life is good. My hobby with the girls ( 61 hens) everyday keeps me focused on what life is all about; sharing your gifts, talents and abundance of love with those you meet in this wonderful journey.

Amen to that my friend! I like that, CDO, CDO, CDO, I think i can get a hang on that! LOL Love the variety of personalities............ when I am not so busy cleaning up the coops and yard, I like to sit down on the bench and let them entertain me, its like a real life cartoon, never ending smiles and comfort. When folks come up to my property, especially with their children, I am fascinated with their interactions. My flock is super tame, I wonder why, but anyone can approach them and pick them up, cuddle them. It took me awhile to figure it out in the beginning, but you are right on to the fact that they are self supporting, and even lend a helping hand to the rest of animals. I have 60, or is that 61 hens, 16 ducks, 1 pig and 7 dogs. The selling of their eggs way more than pays for the food/treats for all the animals every month, so they rule the roost on this crazy little farm. Its taken time, but they have also paid for the remodeling of their henhouse/run, the new added nursery for the younger girls, built nice kennels for the dogs, (still need 2 more kennels to go, c'mon girls, lay those eggs!) I would of never been able to raise all the animals that I have if it wasnt for the hard and consistant work of my flock, truly blessed! When people "awe" at the little gig that I have going on, I always credit the girls for what they have provided for themselves and for me. Life is good is this hood! CDO, CDO, CDO..... oh how I like to learn new things everyday!
