I want to build a chicken tractor for my property and use electric netting to keep the predators out. About every coop build I see, people put hardware cloth on the ground to keep predators from digging under the fence. But I never see anyone mentioning that when they do a tractor with electric netting around it. What keeps animals from digging under the netting?

In my experience, most critters that get shocked learn to keep a distance from that thing that bit them on the nose/tongue/paw. Some are more persistent than others but as long as it gives out a good enough zap, most of them will give it a wide berth. I don’t have any experience with the netting, but I have an offset wire along the bottom and the top of my pen and have never had an issue. I baited mine with bacon grease on tinfoil to make sure they got the message loud and clear. To dig under mine they would be perilously close to the wire and most animals won’t get that close after they’ve touched it. 🤷🏼‍♀️
