What killed my chickens?

its either a racoon or opossum. same thing happened to my grandma's chickens except it came late at night. killed about 15 of her chickens within 2 days. same situation as yours, all dead one chomped in the rear. we never actually caught it in my grandmas chicken coops but we went out and bought a racoon trap, used one of my grandmas dead chicken as bait, placed it around my brother's chicken coop near my grandmas coop and sure enough we caught a racoon. placed the trap out again and caught an opossum the next day.

Weasels can kill and easily escape they suck the blood and chickens don't look hurt! If other predators would have done it feathers would be all over! And things would be a mess!

If the possibility of gate bing left open I'd lean towards dog. I had a dog massacre and that's just what it was, killed birds, some looked fine, some had cuts, and easily in a shaking by a big dog the bird could've lost that half formed egg from the blunt force. Did either bird appear to have dried (or still wet) saliva. It was a dead giveaway with mine. Even the dried ones, the feathers just looked wrong they'd been wet and dried on a non moving bird, giving them a different appearance.
