What killed my kids?

Its a saddest day of my life, I've been raising couple of babies and they were now around 1.5 to 2 months old, I recently moved them outside in a sheltered area (about 1.5 weeks back).

This one is from yesterday morning... he/she was perfectly fine and healthy.

All of sudden when I went to their shelter today, they were looked like statue, I thought somebody will move because they were not lying on the ground like dead; but they were dead all of them together.

I know there were some rain, but still the temp. all the night were more than 78 degrees even then; there was no tremendous rain really, not that I know of.

What have I done wrong to these kids ? I will not be able to sleep really...

Do you think it was a predator that killed them? Like a raccoon or weasel? Were they behind chicken wire, hardware cloth, or something else?

I am sorry for your losses. They were beautiful.

I just want to say I am sorry. I hope you can figure out what happened and not be discouraged to try again.

Yes they were completely covered all around by strong steel wire, I don't see these animals here, but could be at night, they were not eaten or something... but they were all at the edges, but they usually sleep like that; it looks like they slept, but never woke up, but I could be wrong...

Could light or moderate rain kill them somehow at this age; if they were exposed?

That is so strange! Did you find out what happened? Could have they been sprayed with a chemical?

we never do any spray near chickens. so I am also bit curious what could have happened.

If they got wet, and chilled...yes, the rain could have killed them.

so worst case at night it was 78 degree, is that enough to kill them if they were complately wet.

I would think it would be. They were not old enough to warm themselves...they probably tried and that's why you found them like they were sleeping. Think of how you feel when you step out of a pool and it's 78 degrees or out of the shower. You are chilled..they had no way of drying off and getting warm again. I know that you didn't do it intentionally but, why were they outside at that age with no shelter?
