Also we have a pond but if it was snapping turtle wouldn't it have just drowned her instead of going for her neck?

The neck wound is the attack. All the blood is from having to put her down. She actually didn't have that much blood from the wound.
Um did the spoiler work or can everyone see it?The spoiler thing is a good idea @Bills vs Beaks

Very good point!Predators will take prey any chance they get, day or night. Raccoons like to eat heads, so maybe it went for the neck. I have had foxes snatch chickens in broad daylight in my back yard! Actually, you need to worry just as much what to do now, as what predator it is. I had to make the hard choice to stop letting my hens free range because i just kept losing them. Between foxes, dogs, vultures, and hawks it was a losing battle. Good luck and keep us posted.
I know it's a big chunk! I'm still at a loss of what it could be. The other ducks seem to be afraid to get in the pond now. We have big snapping turtles around here but I don't think they go for the neck like that? I thought they try to drown them first.man.......that is nasty.
I have no idea what would do that, other than coon
