Two days ago two of my Seramas went missing. They were outside for their first time (they were very closely watched) and all seemed to be going good. They were all staying close to the coop and being good. At. 4 I went to tractor supply and got home around 30 minutes later. When I went out to check on them the only one I could find was poor pancake looking all over for her sisters and brothers. I found two of her brothers after hours of searching but no signs of Ana or her sister. All my other chickens and ducks were completely fine and acting normal. I don’t think it could’ve been a hawk because I moved the owl decoy that same day and I have a flock of crows that live nearby. I don’t think it was them because they’ve never bothered us before even with chicks outside. There weren’t any feathers no blood or anything. Everything was exactly how it was except for the missing birds. I searched for hours and hours and haven’t found a single clue. I have no clue what could’ve done it because none of the other birds were worried or stressed. Anyone have any insight?

OK I'll bite...

I'll take Alien Abduction for 500 Alex?

But only because my Magic 8 Ball is broken and my surveillance camera's are acting up in Tennessee...:hmm

I lost a hen once like that. Just disappeared. I never knew if a hawk took her, she was stolen or she ran away from home!

I've never had another cream legbar since. Don't trust them!

But in all seriousness it is horrible when that happens, and you may never find out why. I adored my seramas when I had them, so teeny tiny and friendly.

Sending chickeny hugs to you.

It very well could’ve been a hawk. Owl decoys don’t do much, and hawks are incredibly smart animals. How old are they? I’m willing to bet it was a bird of prey, maybe an owl depending on where you live. I would definitely keep them in a run for the time being. I’m so sorry about your losses though, hugs.
:hugs
They were 4 months old. I’ve lost some ducks to hawks before and that’s why I got the decoy. I move it every two days and I’ve never had a attack since. Every time a hawk gets near a few crows fly over and chase it off. So unless the hawk was super hungry or really brave I have a hard time thinking it was a hawk. None of the other chickens seemed spooked either which is really weird to me. It also seems odd to go for them when I have other bigger breeds like polish and Australorps. It’s seriously like they fell of the face of the earth.
