What killed my pullet? Graphic picture warning!

Yes, day time. No holes in the fencing whatsoever. No way could it get through the 1"x1" wire to pull a chicken through if it were a fox, is there? I'm thinking it has to be a raccoon at this point. Day time is strange, but I've seen moms out in the day where we lived before so I suppose not impossible.

I don't think a fox could do a reach thru....doesn't have 'hands' like a coon does.

Coons wouldn't be feeding young at this time of year, I don't think, but it could be really hungry for some other reason.

Time for 1/2 hardware cloth around bottom 2 feet of pen/coop.....or hot wire.
