ok so Im sorta new at this so i dont know much about chickens. my 2 boys won 8 chicks in a game. thought one was going to die because a band got ripped out by one of the other chicks. so went to atwood to get a replacemet. just in case it kick the bucket. so now i have nine. and the following week i was up there to buy food. and i was looking at the chicks just to see them they are so cute. anyhow i met a school teacher that was up there looking also and we started talking and she asked if i could take them if she bought them for her class for a few days. then she would just give them to me. so i ended up with two more chicks and a duck. so im at 11 chicks and one duck now. then she called me a few days later and said her fellow teachers at her school did the same thing and wanted to know if i ould take them. me being the kind hearted animal lover that i am of course said yes. got home with six more and 2 more ducks. that makes a grand total of 17 chicks and 3 ducks.
can somebody please tell me what i have. thanks in advance. oh yeah!!! how do i post pictures?

Posting pics is easy. Upload them through BYC then just copy and paste into your reply. Go to Uploads on the blue menu at the top of the page to get started. Good job getting all those free babies! I bet they're cute and can't wait to see them!

looks like you have some game birds, barnvelders, d'uccles or cochins (the black and white ones) and maybe an orpington (the large buff colored one). couldn't tell you what the ducks are though.....
I'm jealous! all those free chicks and ducklings!

Hello, I think the ones with the stripes are Araucanas, some people call them Easter eggers. They look just like the ones I hatched last year. The ducks look like White Pekins. Other I have no clue. Good luck and I am jealous too.

They are not Araucanas, and Araucanas are not chicks with stripes. In fact, Araucanas are VERY rare to get. Easter Eggers are entirely different and very easy to get, as they are crossbred chickens - But yes those are Easter Eggers.
