Yes, I do realize that. She is the same size as the Silkie Bantams that are the exact same age, and much smaller than regular size at that age.. Soo, I'm assuming she is Bantam.
i have to say he/she doesn't look like a cochin to me - and I have had several barred cochins. Plus they would be black with a yellow dot on their heads as chicks and their heads show more barring - you initial reaction was right I think. I do not think this is your typical "barring" pattern here is one of my barred cochins at about 7 weeks (this is a hatchery girl - roo's do have stronger barring....):
Now, don't brow beat me for this, but to me it looks like a possible mix between a Barred Cochin and an EE. If you just look at its face, you can see the resemblance to an EE chick. The body and legs look Cochin.
Thank you-she IS cute, but odd.. haha The gentleman I got her from said just over a month.. Would the hatcheries really sell cross-breds as a rare exotic??
