...dark legs rule out Orp. -- thanks for the info. Shouldn't Australorps have black eyes? Her's aren't. Please clarify...thanks so much!

One of my Australorps has black eyes and the other one has brown eyes. Mine are hatchery stock from Ideal.

Okay...thanks so much for coming back and clarifying...that really helps!

I had black sex links once. The girls all had red mixed into their black feathers. Do yours not have the red mixed in?

Some have a bit of red mixed in around their necks but I have two that are pure black, not a hint of red anywhere. darkish legs, yellow eyes.

She sure does! Thanks for posting a photo. I have just been really thrown off by the eye color and lack of white-tipped wings. I guess I DO have an Australorp....that's great!!

Now, how do I get Big Momma to like my Aussie roo instead of Big Daddy? Hmmm...

Any ideas? Could I isolate them and force the match? Would that work?

I am pretty sure she is an Aussie. Here's a pic of mine.

She is 5 months old in this picture.

My lil' hen looks like yours, only my girl is short, and her eggs are a medium in size. Not one speck of white, just black, with some gol and green hi-lights. I still have no idea what breed my girl is, I just keep researching. She's a great mix, I'll KEEP HER!

Thanks, everyone! This is great & makes me feel much better. Super news! I have an Australorp hen...still wondering how to pair her up with my Australorp roo, and get her away from Big Daddy, my EE roo. I need building material, I think...to make a separate pen/coop for them.
